In a letter to the school’s leadership team, the Secretary of State for Education praised Miss Lewis and her team, saying the results placed the school “among the very best nationally”, and pointing to the work of staff and the effort of pupils behind the achievement.
Bridget Phillipson also encouraged St Andrew’s to share its good practice with other schools, describing the school as a potential “system leader” and urging it to keep contributing through collaboration and professional networks.
Nationally, the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers is still a big issue.
Our Christian vision at St Andrew’s is based on the words of John 10:10; ‘I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full’. This vision is at the heart of all we do, and as a school family we strive to help every child flourish in every way, supporting them in a range of practical and creative ways. Miss Lewis was delighted to receive this recognition and believes it reflects the dedication of every member of staff, the growing resilience of our pupils, and the strong partnerships we have built within our community.
Bridget Phillipson wants to pass on her thanks and congratulations to the staff and pupils.
