We’d like to thank you for visiting our website and extend a warm welcome to St Andrew’s CE (VA) Primary. We are a friendly, nurturing school situated in an amazing location in the heart of Plymouth, near the sea and Plymouth Hoe. We have close links with The Minster Church of St Andrew in the city centre and are proud to be rated a good Church of England school by Ofsted. We are inclusive and welcome children and families from all faiths or none.

St Andrew’s is relatively small school with seven classes from Foundation to Year 6 and can accommodate up to 210 pupils. We are proud of our well-maintained school buildings and grounds; the classrooms are light and airy, providing a superb environment for learning. Some describe us as ‘an oasis in the heart of the city’. Our latest project will create a beautiful outdoor classroom and story telling area at the end of the Key Stage 2 playground.

Children are at the heart of all that we do. We have a motivated, well-established staff who are committed to providing the very best care and education for every child, supported by our governors and wider school community. We strive to provide children with a solid foundation; equipping them with the values, skills and knowledge they need to live successful, healthy lives in this ever-changing world.

We are an outward looking, busy school, maximising our city centre location with trips to the local area e.g. University of Plymouth, Plymouth Hoe, The Barbican, The Box and the National Marine Aquarium. We have links with a number of local businesses such as Plymouth Marine Laboratory and Pollenize. Our Year 5 continue to be incredibly lucky as they get to experience the world of work through the Millfields Trust Widening Horizons project. With the help of our expert music teacher, Years 2, 3 and 4 are learning how to play the ukulele and clarinet.

We hope you enjoy browsing our website. It will give you a flavour of our school as you explore the children’s learning, events and latest news as well as providing useful information about our curriculum, policies and procedures here at St Andrew’s.
