• An action packed third day at Beam House

  High ropes, surfing, climbing, abseiling
  and a camp fire too. Day three has been a non-stop
  day of action and adventure!

   

  Its our final day tomorrow. It will be another actiontastic morning of shelter building and firing arrows in the archery range before the trip back to school.

• Marjons Hockey Tournament

  On Thursday 31^st May, Miss Duley and Mrs Durbin took 13 excited KS2 children to Marjons for their annual hockey tournament. With over 500 children and 59 schools competing, the opposition was tough.

   

  We had 2 teams entered in the tournament, both playing in different groups. The group stages were challenging, both the A and the B team were up against schools that were far larger than ours, and who had brought along year 6’s rather than our mix of years 6, 5 and 4!

   

  However, although it was challenging, both teams won 2 games with some excellent goals being scored. The A team also drew against new-comers Canada Hill.

   

  Before the teams could get excited about the knockout stages, we had a surprise visit from the Olympic torch! The children were lucky enough to be able to have their photo taken with the torch, as were Miss Duley and Mrs Durbin!

   

  The stage was set for the knock-outs. Both teams had tough games; the A team were set to play High Street and the B team to play Elburton. The A team were fortunate as High Street had gone home early so they were automatically through to the quarter-finals. The B team however, had to play, and what a game it was! The B team, (made up from children across year 6, 5 and 4) won 2-0, putting in their best performance when it mattered.

   

  There was an anxious wait for the quarter-finals, both teams were through and ended up playing their games simultaneously on pitches side by side, (Miss Duley got extremely dizzy from trying to support both teams at the same time!).

   

  Unfortunately, both teams lost their epic quarter-final clashes. But that does not take anything away from the achievement of the children who played. They showed tremendous ability and team play throughout the day. I was very proud to take the children to Marjons, they were fantastic ambassadors for our school. Well done!!
