The whole school has been learning about Sir Ernest Shackleton today, as part of the centenary of the departure of his ship 'Endurance' from Plymouth. We had a special assembly with Richard Nunn this morning, who is a Shackleton expert.

The children have been doing lots more research during the day and producing some fabulous artwork which will be displayed in the Duke of Cornwall Hotel during August. The hotel will be hosting many of the official engagements of centenary celebrations.

The children were fascinated to see the husky dogs which would have accompanied Shackleton on the expedition.

Year 1 had fun trying on all the expedition clothes that would have been worn a hundred years ago and produced some lovely paintings!

The Foundation Class made a brilliant collage with lots of penguins!
    Novak carefully wrote the labels.

Year 5 did lots of research and wonderful sketching.
