Thank you for visiting our website.
St Andrew's is a warm, friendly school. We have close links with The Minster Church of St Andrew in the city centre and are proud to be an outstanding Church of England school. We are inclusive and welcome children and families from all faiths or none. We provide a quality education rooted in our creative curriculum and maximise our city centre location with trips to the local area e.g. Plymouth University, Plymouth Hoe, The Barbican, The Mayflower Steps and the National Marine Aquarium. This term, our Y3 and Y4 children will become fully immersed in their Valiant Vikings topic while Y5 and Y6 children will embrace learning about Ancient Greece. Our Y5 continue to be incredibly lucky as they get to experience the world of work through the fabulous Millfields Trust Widening Horizons project.
We have links with a number of local businesses and our children enjoy tea parties to reward good manners. As part of the Bike It Plus project we encourage our children to travel to school in active ways, e.g. on foot, bikes, scooters or even skateboards. We now have our Bronze and Silver Sustrans awards and are working on achieving our Gold. We are part of the Plymouth Schools Sports Partnership and enjoy taking part in competitions and festivals including hockey, netball, cross country, table tennis and boccia.
With the help of our expert music teacher, Year 2 are beginning to learn how to play the ukulele and Year 4 are continuing to enjoy learning to play the clarinet. Our Y5/6 clarinet players have performed at the previous Plymouth Anthology launches and at the City Centre Christmas Lights event.
We all enjoy dressing up for our St Andrew's and National Internet Safety Days when we share everything we know about keeping safe online and we were delighted to be awarded Digital School of the Year 2017 by Parent Zone! We also all benefit from having trained peer mediators who help children to resolve issues they may have in and out of school.
Our website aims to give you a flavour of our school, as well as provide useful information for both parents and pupils. Please feel free to leave comments in the 'Guestbook', or contact the school direct (see contact details page) with any queries, compliments or suggestions you may have.
Thank you for visiting.
